CATHEDRAL CAVE - Diving Trip (from Crete)
Cathedral Cavern is a unique dive site with a special history. The cave was once above sea level but was flooded during Minoan times after a tsunami caused by the Santorini eruption. Inside, you’ll see amazing stalactites and stalagmites formed long ago when the cave was dry. The entrance is at 14 meters, and in some areas, you’ll feel a slight change in temperature as you pass through freshwater pools. One of the highlights is the sunlight streaming down from above, creating a beautiful and magical effect.
During the boat trip you’ll set up your dive gear and receive a safety briefing from your instructor. Once at the site, you’ll enter the clear waters for your dive, exploring the unique cavern with its stunning rock formations, ancient stalactites, and shifting light beams. Along the way, you’ll also spot Mediterranean marine life, making this a truly unforgettable experience for certified divers.

Everyone in snorkeling and diving trips or diving courses conducted by Blue Adventures Diving in Crete is insured. The insurance is provided through DAN (Divers Alert Network) and covers evacuation and treatment in the event of diving-related accidents. This includes incidents such as decompression sickness, injuries during entry or exit, and other common dive-related issues.
Most accidents are minor and well-covered by the DAN insurance. However, we highly recommend that each traveler has their own travel insurance, and that certified divers carry personal dive insurance. This ensures full protection in the case of more serious injuries, hyperbaric chamber treatment, or high-cost emergency evacuations back to your home country.
